Privacy Policy

Last updated: 9 June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how Ruby Valderama, a textile and surface-pattern design studio operated by Gordon Street Studios ("we", "us", "our"), handles personal information in connection with our website and our social-media presence, including our use of the Pinterest API. We are based in the United Kingdom and aim to comply with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Who we are

Ruby Valderama is the design and marketing identity of Gordon Street Studios. We design original textile and surface patterns and make them available to licence through third-party marketplaces such as Patternbank. For any privacy questions, contact us at alan@gordonstreetstudios.com.

What information we collect

We collect very little personal information. Specifically, we may process:

  • Contact details you give us. If you email us or get in touch about licensing or collaboration, we receive your name, email address and the contents of your message.
  • Basic technical and analytics data. If our website uses analytics or server logs, we may collect standard information such as IP address, browser type and pages visited, used only to keep the site secure and understand general traffic.
  • Our own social-media account data. When we use the Pinterest API and similar tools, we access our own boards, pins and account information to publish and organise our own design content. We do not collect or store personal data belonging to other Pinterest users.

How we use information

We use the information above to:

  • respond to enquiries and manage licensing relationships;
  • operate, secure and improve our website;
  • publish and organise our own original designs on our own social-media accounts (for example, creating themed Pinterest boards and pins that link to our designs' licensing pages).

Third-party services

We use reputable third-party platforms to run our studio. These include Pinterest and other social networks (to publish our work), Patternbank (where our designs are licensed) and scheduling tools such as Buffer (to plan our posts). When we interact with these platforms through their official APIs, we act only on our own accounts and in line with each platform's terms and privacy policies. We do not sell personal information to anyone.

Data retention

We keep personal information only for as long as needed for the purposes described above, or as required by law, and then delete or anonymise it.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you may have the right to access, correct or delete your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to request a copy of the data you have given us. To exercise any of these rights, email alan@gordonstreetstudios.com. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Children

Our website and services are intended for adults and are not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
